A missile launch test by the North Korean government has resulted in failure, with South Korea and the United States governments saying the missile blew up almost immediately.
The test comes in a time of heightened tension between the reclusive state and Western powers, and as North Korea marks the anniversary of its founder’s birthday.
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened retaliation against North Korea should they launch what is now their sixth test of a nuclear missile. North Korea has been arming itself with increasingly sophisticated weaponry in defense against what they see as South Korean and American aggression.
In response to American warships approaching the Korean Peninsula, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has threatened to launch its nuclear arsenal on South Korea.
