Former South Carolina Governor and newly-appointed U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley sent a clear message to American allies in a speech on Friday: “back us or we will take names.”
Haley’s vows to reform the U.N. come as President Trump has threatened to reduce the amount of funding the organization receives. He has criticized its sprawling bureaucracy as well as its “anti-Israel bias,” referring to the recent Security Council vote in which the Israeli settlement movement was condemned, as well as UNESCO’s decisions concerning monuments and pieces of cultural history in Jerusalem.
Haley has echoed these calls in her confirmation hearings.
