Silvio Berlusconi will go on trial for sex bribery case

The former Prime Minister of Italy is set to go on trial for a sex bribery scandal in April.

The 80 year old media tycoon and longest-serving post-war Prime Minister of Italy is charged with attempting to bribe witnesses into silence over a scandal where he paid for sex with a young woman.

Although he was acquitted in that case, prosecutors claimed that Berlusconi paid more than $10 million euros to bribe the witnesses and ensure his success in the trial.

Berlusconi has faced other legal issues during his political career, including being convicted of tax fraud in 2013, and a subsequent six-year ban from the legislative branch of government.
