Today in World History: November 26th

King Tutankhamen of Egypt reigned in the 18th dynasty in Egypt, from around 1332-1323 B.C.E.. His tomb, rather small for someone of his position, which historians attribute to an early death, was opened by Howard Carter and Lord Carnavron. When they discovered the splendors inside, popular belief is that they also unleashed the Pharaoh’s Curse, which reportedly killed most members of the expedition. The artifacts uncovered in 1922 are still available on display today, almost perfectly preserved.

“Can you see anything?”

“Yes, wonderful things!”

-Lord Carnavron asking Carter about the tomb
