Today in World History: November 24th

Tasmania, an island in the south Pacific Ocean and part of Australia, was discovered by a Dutch explorer in 1642. Abel Tasman, who the island is named after, was also the discoverer of New Zealand. He was a legendary explorer, and the island that bears his name is the 26th largest island in the world, with its population exceeding 500,00.
